So, I was on the phone with my mom yesterday. She lives in Argentina and she shared with me a horrible situation about an 8-year-old girl that broke my heart. I won’t go into details, but it was the kind of stuff you see in the movie “Sound of Freedom“.
Honestly, it’s tough to even wrap my head around it, but these things are happening, and it’s real. Innocent, vulnerable kids are suffering in ways that are just unimaginable.
I felt this urge to do something, anything, even though I’m miles away. I tried to think of ways I could help, but for now, I can only pray and formulate a plan to help. I don’t want to ignore this situation anymore, we are called to help.
I’ve been reading an amazing book: Five Wealth Secrets by Craig Hill. In Chapter 2, the author discusses that only a few people are meant to serve God full-time, but we all have a call to use our resources and skills to be productive contributors to society, help others, and glorify God in all we do.
We’re meant to shake things up.
We were called to be agents of change.
So, how can we help?
God has instilled in each of us the talents and passions needed to fulfill our life’s purpose.
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-14
“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever—do not abandon the works of your hands.” Psalm 138:8
Be uniquely you, because there’s nobody else like you out there. Your blend of skills, desires, experiences, mindset, and personality is one-of-a-kind. So embrace your call to serve the needs of others and make a difference with your own set of skills.
– What do you love to do?
– What are your passions?
– What fires you up?
– What are you really good at?
That’s your primary calling. That’s where your mission lies. Then, you can take a slice of what you earn and bless others. Money’s just a tool, after all.
So that’s where my focus lies. Being uniquely me and using what I’ve got to make a difference.
Here’s my plan:
- I’ll keep doing what I’m good at and what God is blessing me with right now (selling on Etsy and building an online biz)
- Each month, I’ll separate part of my earnings on a separate “reserve”. I have a Novo account (affiliate link) that’s amazing for this.
- I’m also going to raise money and awareness for this cause that’s got my heart.
- And I won’t stop praying for that little girl and all the others like her, hoping that someone/ a church/ or an organization nearby can step in and help these children.
- Eventually, I want to make the trip there myself, bringing whatever help I can offer.
Let’s be that change we want to see — because that’s what it’s all about, we’re called to HELP.
I would like to finish with a prayer.
Father,
We thank You for creating us in Your image and giving us a set of gifts and talents that are unique to each of us.
Give us the courage to be true to ourselves and not conform to the expectations of this world. Guide our steps so that they align with your will, and provide the wisdom necessary at each turn along the way.
Help us remember who we are – a unique individual loved by You-
Please help this little girl and all children in need who suffer silently. Allow Your love to shine through the darkness.
In Jesus name, Amen.
Always remember… you are YOUnique, you are amazing, you are strong, and you mean the world to your children.
Love,
Jackie.
