🔥Etsy Shops being Suspended/Current Mockup Drama🔥- My 2 Cents…
I want to discuss the recent developments in the Etsy community regarding the suspension of some shops. It’s a topic that has garnered a lot of attention and generated strong opinions, and I thought it would be valuable to share some thoughts and feelings on the matter.
First and foremost, I’d like to acknowledge that this situation has left many shop owners and buyers feeling concerned, frustrated, and confused.
We understand that Etsy is a platform where countless small businesses thrive, and the sudden suspension of shops can be quite disheartening… especially if it’s one of your sources of income $$$
About Etsy suspensions…
I believe that open and constructive dialogue is essential in addressing these concerns, and I understand that these policies are designed to protect customers, maintain the integrity of the platform, and ensure a level playing field for all participants.
We, the seller community, encourage Etsy and its team to maintain transparency in their decision-making processes and provide clearer guidance to shop owners regarding policy violations TO FIX THESE ISSUES BEFORE SUSPENDING OR CLOSING DOWN A SHOP!
It is crucial to have a clear understanding of the rules that were violated, which can help reduce the incidence of suspensions and conflicts.
Steps I’m taking to prevent suspensions…
1. Etsy’s Policies – Production Partners (Print-on-Demand)

The first step should be to familiarize ourselves with Etsy’s policies and guidelines, making sure that our shops comply with the rules.
As a shop owner, I made sure that all my listings accurately disclose the necessary information when working with production partners, including:
1) The name of my production partner(s).
2) The location of my production partner(s).
3) Details about the nature of my partnership and design process.
4) A general description of the work my production partner does for me.
2. Listing Images Requirements (MOCKUPS)

Now, when it comes to using mockups for print-on-demand items, this policy still holds true, and it’s pretty crucial.
Here’s the deal: when we’re in the business of print on demand, we often rely on mockup images to showcase our designs on various products. The key is to ensure that these mockups faithfully represent what the customer will receive.
How to ensure that a mockup you’re considering for purchase accurately represents the item you want to sell in your store?
Here are some steps to help you make an informed decision when purchasing a mockup:
👉 Make sure it’s the same product: As an example if you sell Gildan t-shirts, don’t purchase BellaCanva mockups.
👉 Read Reviews and Ratings: Check for reviews and ratings from other sellers who have purchased and used the same mockup. These reviews often contain valuable information about the accuracy and quality of the mockup.
👉 Contact the Mockup Shop: If you have any doubts or questions about the accuracy of the mockup, don’t hesitate to reach out to the seller. You can ask them specific questions about how closely the mockup represents the item, the image resolution, the product size being used, and other details that are important for your needs.
3. Just in case your account gets suspended or deleted in the future… I HIGHLY recommend that you start an EMAIL list of your Etsy customers.📥

In conclusion, it’s clear that the recent shop suspensions have raised concerns within our community. It’s important for us to voice our opinions and concerns in a respectful and constructive manner.
My 2 cents:
-> No, I’m not changing all my mockups (I have hundreds of print-on-demand items in my store).
-> I still believe that we CAN buy beautiful mockups to use in our Etsy shop and make more sales, as long as they truthfully represent those items. I don’t think I’m violating any policies by using mockups.
-> Printify’s mockups are not that good (sorry Printify), and it’d drop my sales.
-> I do love Etsy as an e-commerce platform despite all its cons. It makes sense for my business to have great exposure with millions of buyers.
-> I’m not moving to Shopify or any other platform yet; Etsy has over 95 million active buyers. They simply search Etsy, find my products, and make a purchase. On Shopify, people will need to be looking for my store specifically.
-> I will keep collecting emails on Etsy through AWeber https://sheengineers.aweber.com , creating a loyal customer base in case I’m forced to leave Etsy.
